Summer Camp - Update - Price/Medical Form/T Shirts

Posted on Apr 18 2015 - 8:58am

Summer Camp is just around the corner - only 64 days away!

Here are a few updates:

  • The price to go, if you haven't already signed up, is $320.00.  This price includes two troop T-shirts to wear while there.  EXCEPTION:  Any scout who just joined our troop can still go for the original price of $295.00 provided he signs up by mid-May.  This would apply to the Nawhal patrol, formerly known as the Ninja Bacon, formerly known as the Cobra patrol.
  • Medical Forms need to be turned in as soon as possible.  See the previous post about Summer Camp for more information about the form.
  • T-Shirts: If you have a T-shirt design idea I need to see them!  Bring them to the troop meeting.

If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me.

Summer Camp 2015

Posted on Apr 4 2015 - 10:35pm

Fast Facts about Summer Camp 2015

  1. Where?                                Canyon Camp
  2. When?                 June 21st through June 27th.  We will leave in the morning on June 21st and                        return probably around noon on the 27th.
  3. How Much?        The Standard cost to attend Summer Camp is $320.00.  However if payment is received by April 7th, then the cost is reduced by $25.00 to $295.00.If you can’t make the payment schedule above, then full standard payment of $320.00 is due by May 26th.
  4. Why Summer camp?  There are many, many reasons for your scout to attend Summer Camp.  Here are a few:
    1. Summer Camp is the highlight of the troop’s outdoor program for the year.   Scouts often accomplish more that week in regards to advancements and merit badge work than the entire rest of the year.
    2. Summer Camp is the turning point for the scout in his patrol.  After Summer Camp each patrol will work better with each other for having had a week together.
    3. Studies have shown over and over again that scouts who attend summer camp do better overall within the scout program then scouts who do not attend Summer Camp.  Scouts who attend summer camp in their first year or far more likely to stay in the program and reach Eagle than those who do not.
    4. Summer Camp will probably be the most fun scouting event your son attends this year.
    5. For more information about the camp, check out the camp website: http://www.blackhawkscouting.org/Camping/CanyonCamp/
    6. What do I need to pack?  We will be talking about this extensively as we get closer to camp date.  Rest assured though you probably won’t need to run out and buy a lot of new stuff.
    7. One more thing:  Medical Forms!  In order to attend Summer Camp, your son needs an updated Medical Form-parts A, B and C.  That means another trip to the Doctor to get that part C signed.  The form is available on the troop web site.  Information about the form is available at Scouting.org.  Look for information on the “Annual Health and Medical Record.”

Finally-we will be spending a lot of time talking about Summer Camp between now and the time we leave.  But as always, if you have any questions, please contact me.
