ANNUAL TROOP 63 AWARDS & RECOGNITION PICNIC

Posted on Sep 2 2014 - 4:10pm

Our Annual Awards & Recognition Picnic was held on SUNDAY August 24th, 2014 at the beautiful Shagbark Grove Shelter within the Hickory Creek Forest Preserve on Sunday,  August 24th.  We had 79 people come out and enjoy the beautiful weather, great food, games and of course witness the mounds of awards being presented post Summer Camp and post High Adventure Trip to Philmont.  We had an all day Hammer Toss event where it looked like Chuck Aimaro just edged out Mr. Mattingly for the longest toss - over 90 feet.  The watermelon weight was guessed by Patty Klein -She guessed 16# 8 oz and the mellon was 16#, 11oz.  The Bean Bag toss was won by CJ & Craig with Zach and Robbie coming in second place, Dan and Danny came in third place and Chuck and Danny rounding out fourth place.  Thanks to all who helped run the picnic including Mr. Klein, Mr. & Mrs. Carollo and Mr. Sowatzke for his knife skills!

There are two places to find lots of pictures of your scouts at this past week's summer camp.  One is on this website.  Click on the "Photo Album" link on the menu and then find the album that says RSR 2014.  I suggest you look at them with your scout and let him explain to you what you are looking at.  These are the pictures I took.

EAGLE SCOUT ALERT! Tuesday, April 22, 2014 Lee Osterkorn sat for his Eagle Scout Board of Review and when it was over Lee became the 63rd Eagle Scout in Troop 63's history.  Congratulations to Lee for reaching the pinacle of the Boy Scouting program!  Lee's Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project was an improvement of signage outside of the Homer Church, our Chartered Organization by placing interlocking paving blocks around the signs creating a nice area for flowers.  Lee also oversaw the planting of flowers there.  Congratulations to Lee and his family!
